I was too tired yesterday so I did not even attempt to update at all. Sports was really tiring, especially after running four rounds for warm-up and an hour plus of soccer. My legs are still aching a little. Nevertheless, it was a great session which brought back memories of playing soccer during primary and secondary school. Haha. Anyway, good news for me! I passed my ippt!
I decided to do away with the paragraphing after our dear birthday boy, navjote, pointed out my extraordinary long thousand-words paragraph which I had typed in the previous entry. Oops. So, I took my ippt on tuesday last week, together with three other guys from the unit. Then, some other guys from the unit volunteered to help out with the event by assisting in the stations. First up was situps which everyone finished the targeted number easily with at least ten seconds remaining. Next was standing board jump which I had not done for almost a year. The first jump was poor but the second one managed to clear the mark by a little bit fortunately. Then it was time for pull-ups. One, two, three, four, five, six! I did it! I finally cleared the mark after training for so long. Finally, the last static station was shuttle run which was, once again, completed with ease. Then after around ten minutes of rest, it was time for our 2.4km run. This time round, I must dedicate my result to my fellow leongjx who was still recovering from his sundown marathon injuries and yet was willing to pace the runners, especially me for the run. If not for the push at the final stretch of the run, I would have been unable to achieve that kind of timing. Even though he specifically tagged to tell me to leave out this part, I believed that was basically his reverse psychology for me to give him some credit for my ippt. Haha =p
Then, on wednesday, we went for another food outing for dinner! This time round, we went to riverwalk tandoor which was somewhere near home club. It was a north indian buffet. The food there was good but even though it was supposed to be a buffet, most of us could not take it already after two plates of food. We should have skipped lunch that day. Haha. It was the usual chat during dinner and walking around after the meal. Unfortunately, the person who introduced this place to us, our dear navjote again, was sick and could not go for the dinner with us. Nevertheless, I believe there are always other chances in the future to eat there again.
This shall be all for the day. I shall try to recall if I have anything else to blog about then. It is time to sleep. Good night to all. Nudges. Stay happy! 220 days left....Haha. =D
I have to start typing my entry now. If not, I probably will not have time to finish my updates for the week. I guess I shall list each event by a paragraph then.
Astronomy Challenge. The annual astronomy challenge was held on the friday the week before last week and last monday. As usual, my school participated in it. I went to ntu together with cherlynn to support the juniors even though the chances were not very high. Surprisingly, gangkai came as well. I had not seen him for a very long time since I graduated from jc. I did not attend their training sessions and I believed that they studied most of the stuff by themselves. My only hope was for them to get into the final round. I reached there just past noon. They had already finished their multiple choice question round and project round in the morning. They were doing their data response questions when I went into the lecture theatre. The first thing I did was to take a look at the multiple choice questions. I was stunned. Haha. I had forgotten almost all the astronomy knowledge. I think the only thing I can do now is to use the telescope. Haha. Anyway while the teams were doing their questions, I went to interact with my seniors who were organising the competition. Actually cherlynn knew the seniors better than me. And she knew the other people from the organising committee as well. After some interaction, I went to grab something for lunch first which turned out to be subway's italian bmt! Haha. I just love subway, one of the healthier choices of food around. Anyway, after lunch, cherlynn wanted to take a look at the halls because she was planning to stay during her studies. So we walked from canteen A to halls 3 and 16 just beside nie. We just stood on the road outside and admired the buildings. Haha. After that, we walked back to LT1A to continue watching the competition. After dinner, it was time for the observation round. Transportation was prepared to ferry the students and equipment to the observation venue. However, the sky was very cloudy and there was few objects to be seen. Fortunately the team managed to find all the objects that the judges could find, so it was an advantage to them. After the observation round, the competition ended for the day. So I took a long journey from jurong all the way back to toa payoh. Then on monday, I was persuaded to get to ntu early by ly. She even intended to give me a wake-up call. Haha. In the end I woke up early and she called late. So once again, I took another long journey back to jurong by bus. I really will not take mrt unless circumstances force me to do so. A bus concession pass really helped in my journeys, especially the unlimited bus rides guaranteed. Haha. I got to ntu and found the teams playing some game which looked like bingo and battleships combined. They spent the whole morning playing that game so I just walked around and looked at how the teams were faring. By the time they finished, it was lunch time so everyone went for lunch. Here is something to take note of. Canteen A became a foodcourt on the second level while the previous canteen downstairs was closed with only the tables and chairs remaining. Fastfood like mcdonalds, subway, canadian pizza and old chang kee were available on the first floor as well. While having lunch at the foodcourt, I met jin! Haha. It was very long since I last saw her as well. I did not know whether the stalls were still the same as the previous canteen. But the japanese food I had was quite nice and there was a wide variety of food available. Right after lunch, it was the announcement of the junior teams for the final round. Our junior team did not manage to get in but I guess it was some experience for them. When the junior finals finished, it was time for the senior category final round! As the organising committee read out the qualified teams, my heart was so tense. One by one, all the usual teams were announced until the last slot. When they announced that our team got in, my heart almost stopped beating. At least my expectation of them was achieved. The finals started with the usual difficulty questions, followed by a special round which cherlynn said that it was modelled after a game called "cloud nine" and finally the buzzer round. The team did not manage to do well for the first two rounds but they managed to get joint first for the last round! However, the score they got was still insufficient for them to clinch a placing in the top three positions. It was quite unfortunate though. No matter what, the astronomy club still has a spot in my heart and I guess I have to try my best to help them for future competitions then. After the competition ended, ly, cherlynn and I decided to have dinner before ly went to attend her concert. We went to jurong point and walked about before deciding on subway! Haha. I was training for my ippt so I was refraining from fastfood as much as possible. This time round, I had the cold cut trio. As time was running short for ly, she went to change out of her uniform into her dress. But she took quite some time that cherlynn and I became worried. So we split to look for her and found her near the toilet. We hurried to the mrt station because it was getting late for her. After she went off, cherlynn and I just went walking around jurong point looking at the shops, toy'r'us and puzzleworld in particular. I was thinking of getting a rubik's cube but decided against it. Cherlynn wanted one too but she did not buy too. Basically we just window-shopped. Haha. Then I took another long journey back home. I am so wanting to stay in the halls next time. It certainly beats travelling for an hour to and from school.
Time is up. I only manage to blog about the astronomy challenge. More updates on my ippt, dinner outing and other stuffs tomorrow then. Sorry to my readers. Please bear with me for one more day. Nudges. Good night everyone. Stay happy. =)
I am back for my longer update! As promised yesterday. Haha. I just realised I had been blogging about anime and manga for the past three entries. Actually I read manga only when there is no one to talk to, which is why I am able to finish two manga series within these few weeks because the person I talk to most is not there. I shall not talk about manga or anime in this entry then. Enough of them for the past three entries already. I shall write about what happened the previous week then.
On the sunday before, not yesterday, cherie's cca organised a concert called cac+us which was performed by musical, dance and performance groups under the cultural activities club. I was persuaded to go due to several influences who were all part of the organising committee. Initially vanessa was supposed to go but she was not feeling well, so I managed to ask yulei to go with me right on that day itself. In addition, I realised that huiling was going alone because fiona could not go too. So I asked her to sit with us. The concert was held at the university cultural centre. The performing groups included guitar, band, hip hop, jazz, lindy hop, social dance and accappella. So the groups took turns to perform for the two whole hours. An interesing stuff was that at the start of the concert, when I asked yulei and huiling to guess who the backstage emcee was because all of us knew her, they couldn't tell who she was. I thought it was quite obvious but then again I knew about it beforehand. The emcee was weeyin! Haha. Anyway the performing groups did well, considering they were students and probably did not have much time to practise. Most of the audience were probably there to support the performing groups but we were there to support the organising committee. I did a bit of catching up with yulei and huiling during the concert but we did not manage to meet cherie, weeyin or siang yong at the end of the concert because they had some clearing up to do.
Then on tuesday, we had sports during work. Our sports day was officially moved from wednesday to tuesday due to some clash in timetable with the afs where we usually play our sports. As usual, I went to play soccer but this time round it was in the hall due to bad weather. I played very badly that day. No moment of brilliance, no dribbles, no passes, no shots converted. I think I am approaching a decline in my soccer skills. No more improvement. Haha. But never mind, all we want is just to have fun and enjoy sports together.
Next on wednesday, I was supposed to take my ippt together with three other nsfs in the afternoon. I had been training hard for it so I was fairly confident in passing the test. However, by lunchtime, the weather turned bad. There was a slight drizzle with signs of lightning and thunder. After the rain, a cat one warning was issued so we had a feeling that the test would be ancelled. By three pm, we were still waiting for instructions on whether the test would proceed. In the end, the test was postponed! This meant that I had more time to train for my pullups! Time to push beyond six! Rawr. Haha.
Finally, the most awaited day came on friday because I was going for aristal 2008. Aristal was an annual dance concert organised by my college involving all the dance groups in school. This time round, ly was performing in indian dance and she asked whether I was interested to go. So I asked fiona and she agreed. I took half day off that day to collect the tickets from ly first. However she had to rehearse and left the tickets at the counter where I went to collect later. Anyway aristal was also held at the university cultural centre so it was my second time back there last week. I collected the tickets early and took a bus out to clementi. I spent some time walking about the clementi central since we agreed to meet at seven. I got to clementi mrt station early and waited. It is actually pretty obvious to know whether someone coming out of the station is going for the concert. They are either appropriately dressed or even holding flowers and gifts with them which was a definite indication. So I just spent my time observing the people who were attending the concert. I was sure that most of them were current batches of students or those who just graduated from school the year before. I did not see any familiar faces though apart from one or two. In the end, we arrived late at the place and missed about 15 minutes of the concert. But nevertheless, I never regretted going for the concert. The dance items were just splendid! The chinese dances were graceful and smooth. The western dances were groovy and high. The indian dances were lively and joyous and the malay dances were somewhat eerie but unique. The costumes were so beautiful and the choreography was very well. The western dances also played great hits for their dances like plies's hypnotized, florida's low, britney spears's break the ice and one republic's apologize! Their dance moves were very well choreographed because they matched the music exactly beat for beat. However they should not have chosen "hypnotized" if the song was censored too much because the music did not flow well with the frequent silence over the censored words. Nevertheless, I must say that the dancers did a great job indeed. And I was surprised that meerra performed for the alumni section of indian dance. Both of us saw this petite figure performing on stage with her trademark smile and we had a feeling that she was meerra! After looking at the facebook pictures just now, it was really her and the alumni guys who performed were all from my batch, namely karunan, prakaash, haikel and khairi. It was so unexpected because I was not expecting an alumni performance at all. Haha. Both of us enjoyed the concert really much. At least it made you happy. =)
It's time to go now. I am getting nagged at. I hope this update is long enough. Good night to all. Stay happy always. Nudges. =D
I am so lazy to update. No motivation. Blah. Haha. Anyway I finally finished reading 191 chapters of tsubasa reservoir chronicles!! I took exactly a week to finish. That is why I haven't been updating because I am busy reading this manga. But now that I have finished reading, I shall post a short update first, followed by a longer one, hopefully tomorrow. So here is my short update. Haha. More to come in the next update. I am seriously very lazy. Before I end, time for another song. From his latest album, 吴克群 - 牵牵牵手
好想牵手啊 Haha. Good night everyone. Stay happy always, especially you!! =)
