Well, since I took three days off for this whole week, I decided to dedicate one of the days to a visit to ntu! As usual, my buddy was kangwen, who took the day off as well. I managed to find shuyi who had a lecture today on forensic science, something I figured kangwen might be interested since he was going to take life science. We agreed to meet at boon lay though kangwen arrived a bit late. Both of us complained about the long journey. Haha. Him from bedok and me from toa payoh. In the end we still reached ntu early but we got a bit lost at going to nanyang auditorium, so in the end we ended up at school of biological sciences. I had to call for help in the end. Bleah. Shuyi came and brought us to the cafeteria. We got some snacks and decided to go to the auditorium. Surprisingly a lot of people took this module since it was held at the nanyang auditorium. Well at least forensic science was interesting to me. Then kangwen and I saw people literally eating dapao-ed food inside the auditorium. Yeah with those styrofoam boxes. The lecture took quite a while to start since people were still streaming in and settling down. Before that, the girls had to fill up some lecture feedback. So lecture started. The lecturer was quite interesting and kangwen commented that he liked the way the lecturer stood and walked. Kangwen was quite bored and decided to sketch the auditorium on my sketchbook. I took some notes and learnt some interesting stuff as well. Halfway through, there was a ten-minutes break. We decided it was enough so we headed out of the auditorium and walked towards canteen a. The route to canteen a was more familiar to me since I had walked through there a couple of times for my competitions, so I led the way. We grabbed some lunch at canteen a then kangwen met a former nsf from our unit and had a chat. After that, with nowhere else to go, we headed for jurong point. We walked around in jurong point for a while, doing a bit of window shopping. In the end, since kangwen had dinner at home, so we left boon lay and I parted ways with him at raffles place.

It was a fruitful trip, thanks to shuyi for the arrangements (: I look forward to my next return to ntu then. Next place to crash? smu? Maybe some other place in singapore to explore.

Anyway, it seems like I look very free even though I am in NS. I am sorry about that, gals. I think I really need to find something to do. Even my mother complains of me not making use of my free time. I should really start thinking about getting a driving license or attending some courses. Well, times up for my three days of off. I had not done much for the past three days apart from the trip to ntu. Blah. I am getting lazy. Haiz.

That should be all for now. I am getting rushed to publish this. Sorry for the delay. Haha.

Yup it's duty now, Mt Kelud has not erupted yet, if not I won't be here blogging already =D Alright, so just a while more before I go to sleep, I shall blog about my trip to nus yesterday!

So I took a day off yesterday with the hope of going to ntu to crash some lectures but unfortunately, it was not really possible ): Well kangwen happened to take his pm off, so we decided to head to nus for lunch! We took 95 to nus and on kangwen's suggestion, we decided to head to arts canteen to try the food. But in the end, we got off at the wrong stop but we still walked there in the end. But then, we couldn't find the arts canteen and had to ask around for directions. So we continued walking then in the end we reached computing! We asked for directions again and finally phew we really found the canteen. Then first thing we found out was that the western food is, to quote kangwen, "obscenely cheap". It's $2.20 for a plate of fish and chips or chicken cutlet where the meat was of decent size. Kangwen tried the cutlet while I got the fish and chips. We swopped food and I found that the fish was better tasting than the cutlet. The taste was decent enough, considering the cost of the dish. According to my friend's introduction, the laksa and japanese food is supposedly not bad. We didn't try those two stalls because the queue was exceptionally long. After lunch, we wandered off in search for another canteen. The initial thought was to head to science but kangwen decided to find out the myth of extreme gender imbalance in engine. It turned out rather true and the atmosphere in engine was pretty dull, maybe due to the drizzle at that time? After passing through engine canteen, we finally settled down at mcdonalds. Kangwen was meeting his friend for dinner, so we waited in macs for quite some while before his friend, Tovya came. They decided to cab down to Greenwood Fish which is just behind njc (yes I only knew about this place yesterday) for dinner and since I was headed to town, I hitched a ride with them until njc so that I could take 174 from there. Then I went off to town in search for my books at kinokuniya before heading home for dinner.

That's more or less what I did yesterday, if I left out something, pls refer to kangwen's post for elaboration ;) Till then, I would be looking forward to my next off day which I don't even know when it will be. For the next exploration then. ntu? smu? or some other places in singapore? I am undecided yet haha. I really look forward to lunch tomorrow but if you really cannot, there's always next time, don't worry (: Two days more to your big day, cheer up ^_^

Off to sleep then...yawns...

I learnt a new thing today. It was quite random though. Haha.
We were walking along the road, heading for lunch when we saw a car driving past with an American flag in front. So what would you do if you are a normal pedestrian. Normally you would point your finger at the car and talk among yourselves, wondering who's inside that car. But then, I learnt something new today. Our chief clerk was walking with us and she mentioned that if we were in uniform, we were supposed to salute when we see such a car with a flag. If not, according to her, the person inside has the right to stop and book us, which probably means taking down your names and unit and reporting them accordingly. So here's some new knowledge to all NSFs like me. Remember to salute when you see such a car. According to my chief clerk, those are cars for ambassadors and foreign officials, hence the salute required.

I went with my parents to buy a new mattress for my bed today. According to my mum, we were regular customers of the shop since we moved to Toa Payoh. That was like more than ten years ago. Well, it was a furniture shop at Geylang East there. Geylang East, not Geylang. Geylang East is near Aljunied fyi. Then, while at the shop, I saw this little Indian boy who was with his father in the shop. The auntie was speaking to him in mandarin and I heard him reply back in mandarin! Then he spoke to his father in tamil what the auntie told him. I thought he had learnt to speak mandarin from school or his friends. Turned out that he took tuition to learn it! I was quite impressed at him being able to understand and speak the language.

That should be all for now, work's as usual, doing my routine stuff everyday, looking forward to using my offs though, hopefully next week. Meanwhile, back to my FM08 gold demo...

[edit: amendment, according to another source non other than cpl leongjx, we are supposed to salute when we are wearing our uniform and headdress. That's all for amendment =P]

Didn't manage to update on the dinner yesterday. I was particularly tired, maybe it's my mental adjustment to the constrasting amount of workload as compared to before. It's probably the effect of a stressed out month, where so few of us worked so hard every day. Now that the rest are back, I am looking forward to a more relaxed workload, hopefully. Undeniably, they are still greenhorns, picking up as they get more experience working in my section.

Why am I talking about this? I should be blogging about my dinner.

Back to the dinner on Sat. Where was I? Oh yeah description about vil'age. So each one of us got a card and went in to find seats. The concept of the place was something new to me. It was very interesting though. I walked one round around the place, ordered a pizza and waited for the rest as they proceeded with their other orders. I was told the pizza would take 10 mins so we spent some time walking around again, looking for other interesting stuff to get. The calamari was nice, the pizza I got was ok, considering that I was allowed to choose my own toppings. When we all got our food, we went back to our table and had a long chat. We caught up on a lot of stuff that happened for the past few months. It was a great time to be together again, catching up and doing all sorts of funny things. We took hilarious photos again, needless to say. In the end, we spent a long time inside there, it was almost ten when we decided to get out. At the heeren fountain, we took photos again and tried to throw glenn into the fountain but to no avail. It was a great night spent with them. All the best to every one and I look forward to the next outing planned (:

Got to go now, getting nagged for using the comp too long, await my next update then.

Hmm it seems that I have been neglecting my blog...I am sorry, my blog (:

So, I decided to blog down our Taurus outing on Sat before it goes out of my mind in a few days more. So Taurus 4 decided to meet on Sat to have dinner together to celebrate the long belated birthday of xiulong and in addition the also belated birthday of my buddy, zijia! Original plan was to meet at 1830 at orchard to shop for suitable gifts for the birthday boys. The guys who came were junchen, mojo, raymond, john, glenn, clement, weijie who all came first. First we went to shop around wisma with clothes in mind, but we couldn't decide on anything. Then in the end, the guys thought a dinner treat for them would have been more appropriate, so we went to taka in search of restaurants. Then kwan chuan and xiu long came and joined us while we headed to the 5th floor in search for buffet for dinner. While they were arguing where to have dinner, I met my 1st three months CT Mrs Lau! I had a short chat with her before hurrying off to find the guys. On the way out of taka, terry joined us and we then proceeded to sakura after much deliberation and our stomachs growling involuntarily.

When we reached sakura, I waited for zijia to come while they went to queue for seats. Even though we managed to be able to get in, unforeseen circumstances like not enough time, never pay cannot go in with us and others forced us to abandon the idea of eating there and with a word from glenn, "sorry, we are not eating here", we walked off in search for other dinner locations. In the end, we went to the vila'ge at heeren B1 which offered a cashless system where you are given a bar-coded card upon entry and when you order food, the card will be scanned and the order will be recorded on the card. Final payment will be made at the cashiers located at the exit using the card.

That's all for now, I shall elaborate more on the dinner tomorrow, stay tuned my readers (:
