After 2 long weeks, I am finally back from tekong...home sweet home...
It has been a fun and enjoyable 2 weeks. Seriously it was more like chalet than confinement. There was free food 4 times a day, free accomodation although we had to clean the bunk until we could see our reflections on the floor. Despite that I was in platoon 4 section 4 which means being in the last section of the whole company, I think I am lucky enough to get to know my sectionmates and we click so well. I think we are the best section ever! (though everyone would most likely say that for their own sections lol) The first few days were mostly admin stuff. There were physical training and foot drill lessons where we learnt all the commands in malay. Then there was a ceremony where we were presented with our M-16 rifles. We were told to treat our rifles like our wives and everytime we drew our rifles out, we had to kept them in our cupboards locked up or else we had to bring them along wherever we went. Then we were taught how to strip and assemble our "wives" within 60 seconds as well as checking clear of our rifles whenever we have to return the rifles. Besides playing with our wives, we also had other lessons and LECTURES too!! There was swimming lessons which I only attended one time because I passed the test on the first lesson. There were also endurance trainings to build up our physical fitness as well as gym lessons to train our muscles. We also had regular route marches. Then at the start of the second week, we started our arms drill as well as our IMT lessons which was something like an arcade shooting game. It was very fun and exciting. I can't wait to go to live range to experience live shooting of the M-16.
Tekong has peculiar weather though. In the early morning, the weather is freezingly cold yet in the afternoon, the temperature can reach as high as 35 degrees Celsius. There's hardly any clouds above the tekong sky which makes it good for observation. I think we were rather privileged enough to be able to catch the Thailand vs Singapore second leg finals live on a big screen set up in front of company line. Well I am also glad that we are able to have such great officers during our stay in tekong.
It's rumoured that 'A' Level results will be out soon, well there is abit of fear in my heart now, hoping that I did not screw up anything badly. Well we will just wait and see...
This should be all for now, will update again in a week's time, one more day to book in day lol...
hellmos signing off...
